Buffer Solutions

A buffer is a solution created to resist pH changes when introducing internal and external influences. Buffers also maintain intercellular and extracellular pH within the physiological range, providing minimal interference in biological processes. At Thomas Scientific, we have an extensive range of buffers available, including sodium phosphate buffers, blue buffers and LDS sample buffers. We offer a selection of buffers and native gels that carry both positive and negative charges. Buffers are suitable for biochemical research applications such as cell cultivation, isolation of cells, and enzyme assays.

What is nuclease free water?

Nuclease-free water is highly purified water removed of nucleases. This type of water is essential in molecular biology experiments, such as PCR, RNA sequencing, or DNA extraction, where the integrity of nucleic acids is crucial. By using nuclease-free water, scientists ensure that their samples won't be degraded by unwanted enzymes, preserving the accuracy and reliability of their experiments.

Why is nuclease free water used in PCR?

Nuclease-free water is essential in PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) to prevent degradation of the DNA template and primers. Nucleases are enzymes that can degrade DNA or RNA, which would compromise the accuracy and success of the PCR process.
