The PTFE and silicone membrane with integrated stainless steel mesh support, greatly enhances durability. It also extends expected membrane life and can be easily and quickly replaced without the need for tools. The most common problem seen over a period of time with DO sensors is the degradation of the membrane. This results in slow response time, drift, and inaccurate readings. The membrane and electrolyte are exposed to multiple sterilization cycles, physical impact, harsh solutions and clogged organic compounds. All of which result in normal wear and tear, resulting in replacement.
