Thomas Scientific is an ACT Ecolabel Channel Partner

In partnership with sustainability non-profit My Green Lab, Thomas Scientific is integrating identification of ACT® Ecolabel-certified products into our catalog and purchasing platform, giving customers access to trusted, third-party verified sustainability data at the point of purchase.

ACT Ecolabel Certification for Lab Products

The ACT Ecolabel is a multi-attribute ecolabel designed for laboratory products, including consumables, equipment, chemicals and reagents, PPE, and kits. All sustainability claims on an ACT Ecolabel have been verified by an independent third-party audit.

The ACT Ecolabel Standard provides a standardized, science-based framework to evaluate and communicate the environmental impact of lab products. The My Green Lab ACT® Ecolabel is the only ecolabel for lab products approved by the U.S. EPA and aligned with the requirements of the Directive on Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition in the European Union.

ACT Ecolabel certification evaluates the sustainability attributes of the lab product, including:

• Product materials and hazardous chemicals
• Energy consumption by equipment
• Product support and end-of-life options
• Packaging and Shipping
• Available product carbon footprint
• Facility manufacturing practices and renewable energy use
• Company commitments to greenhouse gas reductions
• Recent improvements

ACT Ecolabel Example (for Consumables)

At the conclusion of the certification audit, products receive a science-based, 100-point weighted Environmental Performance Factor (ACT EPF) score, communicated through a clear, color-coded ecolabel.
