What does a MEM medium do?

MEM (Minimum Essential Medium) is a widely used cell culture medium designed to support the growth and maintenance of various mammalian cells. It provides essential nutrients, including amino acids, vitamins, glucose, and salts, necessary for cellular metabolism and proliferation. Depending on the specific cell type being cultured, MEM is often supplemented with additional components such as serum, antibiotics, or growth factors.
