Triton(TM) X-100 is a non-ionic detergent that meets all requirements for use in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process. The chemical structure of Triton(TM) X-100 Emprove® EXPERT gives it the ability to destroy lipid-membranes making it particularly important for use in virus (enveloped) inactivation. Triton(TM) X-100, therefore, is an important element of the virus safety step in the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process. An additional use of Triton(TM) X-100 is the cell lysis to release viruses out of the cytoplasm.
