Ready-to-use Tryptic (Trypticase) Soy Agar (TSA) Plates are for growth of nonfastidious and moderately fastidious microorganisms (e.g., Neisseria, Listeria, and Brucella). The combination of soy and casein peptones supply organic nitrogen in the form of amino acids and polypeptides, making the medium highly nutritious. Sodium chloride is added to maintain the osmotic equilibrium.
TSA plates are non-selective and non-differential plates.
Typically, 100 mm round plates are for growth/selection, 150 mm round plates are for screening, and rectangular plates can be used with automated systems.
Contains 1.5% (15 g/L) tryptone, 0.5% (5 g/L) soytone, 0.5% (5 g/L) sodium chloride, and 1.5% agar.
