Super Broth is an excessively rich broth used to boost bacterial cell growth to facilitate high plasmid and protein yields, especially in E. coli.
Compared to LB broth, it contains 3.2X tryptone, 4X yeast extract, and 0.5X sodium chloride.
Powdered broth provides an economical, convenient option that requires less storage space and has a longer shelf life than liquid broth.
When reconstituted in water (88.55 g/L), contains 3.2% (32 g/L) tryptone, 2.0% (20 g/L) yeast extract, and 0.5% (5 g/L) sodium chloride. Note: after reconstitution in water, the broth should be autoclaved to sterilize before use.
