Biochem Physiol Actions: Prostaglandins mediate vasodilation and vasoconstriction, the E series of prostaglandin is a highly effective vasodilator. It is known to efficiently cause erythema. Prostaglandin E1 is considered as a potent pyretic factor, and acts through cerebral ventricles. Prostaglandin E1 is useful to prolong cardiovascular function in new born suffering from ductus-dependant congenital heart disease until surgery.
