Synonym(s): PDGF-BB
Purity: >97% (SDS-PAGE)
Physical form: Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in acetonitrile and TFA
Analysis Note: The biological activity is measured by its ability to stimulate 3H-thymidine incorporation in quiescent NR6R-3T3 fibroblasts.
Other Notes: Dimer of the B chain of human PDGF.
Storage: −20°C
Biochem/physiol Actions: PDGF elicits multifunctional actions with a variety of cells. It is mitogenic to mesoderm-derived cells, such as dermal and tendon fibroblasts, vascular smooth muscle cells, glial cells, and chondrocytes. PDGF is a potent chemoattractant and activator of neutrophils, monocytes, and fibroblasts. It increases the synthesis of phospholipids, cholesterol esters, glycogen and prostaglandins, and modulates LDL receptor binding.
Empirical Formula (Hill Notation): C7H4Cl2O
