General description: PKCη (protein kinase C η) belongs to the protein kiinase C family. It is mainly expressed in the squamous cell epithelia.
Biochem/physiol Actions: PKCη (protein kinase C η) mainly participates in terminal differentiation of keratinocytes. It is responsible for arresting the cell cycle at G1 phase. It is also involved in phosphorylation of p21 and suppression of cdk2 (cyclin-dependent kinase 2) kinase activity by associating with cyclin E/cdk2/p21 complex, thereby regulating cell cycle. PKCη is upregulated in breast cancer and is associated with cell growth.
Physical form: Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.
