Biochem/physiol Actions: FADD (Fas Associated Death Domain) is a cytosolic apoptosis adapter protein molecule with two protein interaction domains. It consists of a C-terminal death domain for the interaction of Fas receptor death domain. It also possesses a death effectors domain at the N-terminus end (DED, which recruits caspase 8 to the death inducing signaling complex) to initiate the apoptotic caspase phenomena. It is associated with various non-apoptotic cellular pathways such as regulation of cell cycle machinery in T lymphocytes connected to the phosphorylation state of FADD and to the FasL/TRAIL-induced transcriptional activation of c-fos protooncogene. It also interacts with the hepatitis C virus core protein in the HEK-293 cell line.
Immunogen: purified recombinant human FADD.
