Biochem/physiol Actions: IFNα-2A belongs to the type I interferon protein family and is produced by many cell types in response to viral infection. It has antiproliferative and antitumor activities, as well as induction of apoptosis and the inflammatory response. IFNα-2A enhances the expression of MHC proteins by increasing the presentation of antigen peptides and activates cytotoxic T cells.
