General description: Ezrin is a 80kDa membrane-associated protein that belongs to ERM (Ezrin/Radixin/Moesin) family. Ezrin is found predominantly in polarized epithelial cells such as intestinal epithelial cells, gastric parietal cells, epithelial cells of the kidney proximal tubule, terminal bronchiole of the lung, and in mesothelia.

Application: Anti-Ezrin antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for immunoblotting at a working concentration of 0.5-1.0μg/mL using whole extracts of rat NRK cells, immunoprecipitation at 0.5-1.0μg using RIPA extract of human A431 cells, indirect immunofluorescence at 10-20μg/mL using human HeLa cells and immunohistochemistry at 20-40μg/mL using heat-retrieved, formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human melanoma tissue sections. It was used as a primary antibody for immunoblotting in the quantitative LC-MS/MS analysis of detergent-resistant membrane proteins from rat renal collecting duct.

Biochem/physiol Actions: Ezrin promotes cell adhesion. The NH2-terminal domain negatively regulates membrane spreading and elongation properties of ezrin COOH-terminal domain. The members of ERM family are usually involved in cross-linking of plasma membrane and actin filaments. ERM proteins are involved in cell adhesion, cell shape determination, migration, and the organization of cell surface structures. They are also involved in signal transduction and apoptosis. Ezrin has been implicated in tumor progression and metastatic spread.

Immunogen: synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 479-498 of human ezrin with N-terminal added cysteine, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence in rat and mouse differs by three amino acids.

Physical form: Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline containing 15 mM sodium azide.

RIDADR: NONH for all modes of transport
