Application: Anti-Doublecortin antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for immunoblotting at a working concentration of 1-2mug/mL using HEK-293T cells expressing human doublecortin, and mouse brain and rat brain extract (S1 fraction).
Biochem/physiol Actions: Doublecortin is a 40kDa microtubule-associated protein (MAP) that is essential for migration of neurons during the development of the cerebral cortex. Mutations in the human DCX gene cause lissencephaly (smooth brain) or subcortical laminar heterotopia (SCLH), characterized by mental retardation and seizures. DCX interaction with MAPs stabilizes microtubules (MTs). The interaction with MTs is via a conserved N-terminal doublecortin (DC) domain. DCX can be regulated by phosphorylation at multiple sites by several kinases, including JNK, Cdk5, PKA, and MARK/PAR-1 family of protein kinases.
Immunogen: synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 151-170 of human doublecortin, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat and mouse doublecortin.
Physical form: Solution in 0.01 M phophate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
RIDADR: NONH for all modes of transport
