PEPCK catalyzes the conversion of oxaloacetate to phosphoenolpyruvate, the first committed step in gluconeogenesis. Both non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and streptozotocin-induced diabetes result in elevated PEPCK activity, protein, and mRNA. This antibody was generated against mouse cytosolic PEPCK.
