Biochem Physiol Actions: Moxidectin is an orally active antihelminthic (antiparasitic) that targets parasite glutamate-gated chloride ion channels (GluCls). Moxidectin binding increases target GluCl permeability, resulting in influx of chloride ions and dysfunction of the excretory pore, flaccid paralysis, and death of the parasite through host response.
