General description: Glutamic acid decarboxylase or GAD catalyzes the rate limiting step during the synthesis of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA. Pancreatic and neuronal GADs have 2 isoforms, namely, GAD65 and GAD67. Both the isoforms, GAD65 and GAD67 have been implicated in the pathogenesis of insulin-dependent diabetes . Monoclonal Anti-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) antibody is specific for GAD67 in mouse, rat, and human tissues. The antibody does not bind to GAD65 in mouse brain cells by immunoblotting. When used in immunohistochemistry, the K-87 monoclonal antibody clone binds to neuronal GAD67 and has a greater capacity to identify GAD67 in dendrites and axon buttons as against K-2 polyclonal anti-GAD67 antibodies .
Application: Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.Immunohistochemistry-immunofluorescence (1 paper)
