General description: This gene encodes a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family. BMPs belong to the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily of secreted signalling molecules that regulate diverse processes in growth, repair and embryonic development. In mouse, this gene functions as an inductive signal from the roof plate required for the specification of neuronal identity in the dorsal spinal cord. (provided by RefSeq)
Biochem/physiol Actions: As implied by their name, BMPs (bone morphogenetic proteins) promote and regulate bone development, growth, remodeling and repair, in both prenatal development and postnatal growth of eye, heart, kidney, skin, and other tissues. BMP-12 regulates chondrogenesis, bone morphogenesis, and neuron differentiation. It also has a role in seminal vesicle development.
Immunogen: GDF7 (NP_878248.2, 204 a.a. ~ 301 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.SequenceVGQRWEAFDVADAMRRHRREPRPPRAFCLLLRAVAGPVPSPLALRRLGFGWPGGGGSAAEERAVLVVSSRTQRKESLFREIRAQARALGAALASEPLP
