General description: The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine protein kinase and a member of the casein kinase I protein family, whose members have been implicated in the control of cytoplasmic and nuclear processes, including DNA replication and repair. The encoded protein is found in the cytoplasm as a monomer and can phosphorylate a variety of proteins, including itself. This protein has been shown to phosphorylate period, a circadian rhythm protein. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. (provided by RefSeq)
Biochem/physiol Actions: Casein kinase 1 ε (CSNK1E) phosphorylates proteins of the Wnt signaling cascade. It modulates tumor growth and cell division in salivary gland cancer, pancreatic and colon adenocarcinoma cells. CSNK1E phosphorylates dopamine- and cAMP-regulated neuronal phosphoprotein (DARPP-32) and modulates dopamine receptor signaling. It also interacts with proteins involved in circadian rhythm.
Immunogen: CSNK1E (NP_689407, 2 a.a. ~ 100 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.SequenceELRVGNKYRLGRKIGSGSFGDIYLGANIASGEEVAIKLECVKTKHPQLHIESKFYKMMQGGVGIPSIKWCGAEGDYNVMVMELLGPSLEDLFNFCSRKF
