Biochem Physiol Actions: MSDC-0160 is an mTOT (mitochondrial target of thiazolidinediones) modulator that targets the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier (MPC), which is a key controller of cellular metabolism. MSDC-0160 is reported to enhance the cells' ability to handle potentially harmful proteins, which leads to reduced inflammation and less nerve cell death. It has already been in clinical trials for diabetes and Alzheimer's disease and clinical trials for Parkinson's Disease are planned.
