Midodrine (hydrochloride)

A prodrug of the α1-adrenergic receptor agonist, DMAE (Kis= 2, 6.9, and 1.7 µM for α1A, α1B, α1D, respectively); 1-5 mg/kg produces a dose-related increase in mean arterial pressure in normotensive rats and improves the orthostatic index in an experimental model of postural hypotension.
