Synonyms: Epoxide PEG; mPEG-epoxide
Linear Structural Formula: C3H5O2(C2H4O)nCH3
Storage: 2-8C
Application: Epoxide functionalized PEG can be covalently bonded to polymers and biopolymers by epoxide ring-opening reactions. As a surface coating, PEGylated surfaces prevent cell adhesion by entropically driven steric repulsion. For drug delivery, PEGylation increases the hydrophilicity of the drug carrier.
