Limabean agar is recommended for cultivation of phytopathological and other fungi. It is composed of an infusion of dry lima beans and agar. Limabean infusion provides all essential growth nutrients for fungi. The pH of the medium is 5.6, which enables luxuriant fungal growth.

- Appearance: Cream to yellow homogeneous free flowing powder
- Gelling: Firm, comparable with 1.5% Agar gel
- Color and Clarity of prepared medium: Yellow colored opalescent gel forms in Petri plates and may have slight precipitate
- Reaction: Reaction of 2.3% w/v aqueous solution at 25°C. pH : 5.6±0.2
- Cultural Response: Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 28-32°C for 40-48 hours
