FreeZone 4.5 Liter Benchtop Freeze Dryers are designed for lyophilizing light to moderate sample loads. The compact design is ideal for labs with limited floor space. They feature a brushed stainless steel and glacier white, powder-coated steel exterior, hot gas defrost, side-mounted USB port and rear-mounted Ethernet connection.
The upright stainless steel collector coil holds 4.5 liters of ice before defrosting. A single 1/3 hp HCFC/CFC-free refrigeration system cools the collector to -50°C (-58°F), suitable for aqueous samples. The collector lid, 3/4" thick, has a neoprene gasket and 3" diameter port for connection of drying accessories (sold separately). Models with PTFE-coated collectors that can withstand corrosive compounds are available.
Lyo-Works™ OS provides a real time display of collector temperature and vacuum level on a 5" full color, capacitive touchscreen. Lyo-Works OS controls optional drying accessories providing 30 programs that can hold up to 16 segments each as well as the optional End-Zone™ end point detection system for flask freeze drying. Display includes navigation to start-up mode, vacuum set point, alerts, diagnostic tests, user manual, and defrost control. Data logging stores and displays data in table or chart format and data may be exported via USB or Ethernet. Language can be set to English, Spanish, French, German or Italian. Other settings include time, time zone, temperature (°C or °F) and vacuum (mBar, Torr or Pa). Alerts and feedback of current operating programs can be sent automatically to user-entered email addresses.
FreeZone exclusive features protect the vacuum pump from damage. A vacuum break valve bleeds air into the system when power to the freeze dryer or vacuum pump is shut off for more than 5 minutes. A moisture sensor prevents refrigeration or vacuum start-up when moisture is detected in the drain line. If the vacuum level is higher than 5 mill bar for 30 minutes the vacuum pump will automatically turn off.
Vacuum pump with a displacement of at least 98 liters/minute, drying accessory and freeze dry glassware (if not bulk freeze drying) are required (not included).
