Herpesvirus 8 Monoclonal Antibody

Not yet rated

Background

HHV 8 encodes a latent nuclear antigen (LNA), which is the product of the viral gene orf 73. LNA is capable of forming a complex with retinoblastoma susceptibility gene product, which may be related to its oncogenic activity. HHV8 is associated with three different diseases observed in AIDS patients; kaposi's sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma (which is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma affecting the body cavities) and multicentric Castleman's disease. HHV 8 is the likely etiological agent of Kaposi’s sarcoma.

Application Note

Anti-Herpesvirus 8 (RAT) Monoclonal Antibody was tested in IHC-P with positive control Karposi sarcoma tissues. Cellular Localization: Nuclear. The user is advised to validate the use of the products with their tissue specimens prepared and handled in accordance with their laboratory practices. Consult references (Kiernan, 1981: Sheehan & Hrapchak, 1980) for further details on specimen preparation.

Purity/Specificity

This antibody reacts with Herpesvirus 8. The antibody was clarified from tissue culture supernatant.
