Hektoen Enteric Agar (HE) is for the selective isolation and differentiation of pathogenic Gram negative enteric bacteria, such as the non-lactose fermenting Salmonella spp. and Shigella spp. Normal stool flora, such as E. coli, will be partially inhibited.
