The Ricca Chemical hayem diluting fluid with a composition of 96.75% water, 2.50% sodium sulfate anhydrous, 0.50% sodium chloride and 0.25% mercuric chloride, is used to count red blood cells in blood specimens. It can be stored at a temperature of 15 to 30 degree C.
