Sterile 80% Glycerol solution offered is less viscous and more convenient to pipette than 100% glycerol.
- Used in sample preparation and gel formation for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis
- Aid in casting gradient gels
- Protein stabilizer and storage buffer component
Bacteria and yeast cells can be stored for months to years in a liquid or solid form at -10 to -15°C or frozen at -20 to -80°C in 20-80% glycerol. Glycerol is added to fresh cells from liquid or plate cultures and stored in the freezer. Fresh media cultures are inoculated by dipping into the frozen stock with a sterile loop or pipette.
