A steroidal antibiotic that inhibits the translocation function of the elongation factor EF-G (IC50 = ~10–200 μM) during bacterial protein synthesis; inhibits the replication of gram-positive bacteria including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Corynebacterium species.
