Fibronectins are adhesive glycoproteins and are found both as cell surface proteins and in plasma.
Human fibronectin (HFN) is suitable for use as an attachment factor in the propagation of cells in vitro when used to coat cell culture surfaces, including plasticware, glassware, and microcarrier beads. It is used in cell attachment and proliferation assays on human endothelial cells, human keratinocytes and human dermal fibroblasts.
HFN is purified from Cohn fraction I of human plasma by a modification of the procedure. This material has been pasteurized to reduce the possibility of viral contamination, and filtered through a 0.22 micron filter prior to lyophilization.
