As a natural product, fetal bovine serum contains a wide variety of biological molecules and compounds which can influence cell development. This serum is dialyzed against physiological saline to remove small (less than 10kDa) potential contaminants while preserving the biological integrity of the final product. An extra filtration step of 0.1 micron further ensures purity.
