Casein Peptone is enzymic digest of casein. It is manufactured under controlled conditions. Casein being a rich source of amino nitrogen, the hydrolysed product casein peptone obtained also contains peptides, aminoacids etc. which acts as nitrogen source for microorganisms when used in media formulations.
Appearance
Off white to light yellow Homogenous Free flowing powder, having Characteristic odor but not putrescent.
Solubility
Freely soluble in distilled/purified water, insoluble in alcohol and ether.
Clarity
1% w/v aqueous solution remains clear without haziness after autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121ºC) for 15 minutes.
Reaction
Reaction of 2% w/v aqueous solution at 25ºC.

Store below 30°C. Use before expiry date on the label.
