Biochem Physiol Actions: Bakuchiol acts as an antioxidant inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B), and as an inhibitor of mitochondrial lipid peroxidation and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS; NOS II) expression. Bakuchiol is also a DNA polymerase inhibitor which shows antimicrobial, anti-inflammation, anti-tumor, immunosuppressive, and hepatoprotective effects, as well as hypoglycemic and cytotoxic activity. It was recently found that bakuchiol is active against influenza virus with an IC50 of 0.2 muM.
