Biochem Physiol Actions: VANGL planar cell polarity protein 2 (VANGL2) has an important role in the planar cell polarity pathway. The protein is part of the non-canonical WNT pathway. Its activation inhibits the canonical WNT pathway. VANGL2 modulates collective migration and invasion of human fibrosarcoma cells. Mutations in this protein have been associated with miscarriage and fetuses with neural tube defects.
