The gene TMEM65 (transmembrane protein 65) is mapped to human chromosome 8q24. In mouse, it is mainly expressed in the heart tissue. The encoded protein localizes to the inner membrane of mitochondria. In cardiac cell, it is membrane associated and localizes in the intercalated disc. The protein has putative transmembrane regions and a mitochondrial targeting signal.
Synonyms: Anti-Transmembrane protein 65
Storage: -20C
Application: All Prestige Antibodies(R)Powered by Atlas Antibodies is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: TMEM65 (transmembrane protein 65) might be involved in mitochondrial functions and in the development of French-Canadian Leigh syndrome (LSFC). It can also serve as a marker for checking the development and maturation of human ventricular cardiomyocytes. It binds to connexin 43 (Cx43) and helps in proper localization of Cx43 to the intercalated disc.
