Biochem Physiol Actions: SLC25A28 also known as mitoferrin 2 (MFRN2) belongs to mitochondrial solute carrier family.It transports mitochondrial iron into the developing erythrocytes. High concentrations of iron are highly toxic; the regulation of iron transport in the vertebrate cells by MFRN1 and 2 is therefore critical.
