Biochem Physiol Actions: SLC25A14 is a mitochondrial uncoupling protein (UCP) belonging to the family of mitochondrial anion carrier proteins (MACP). The UCPs mediate the transfer of anions from inner to outer mitochondrial membrane and transfer of protons in the reverse direction. Altered expression of SLC25A14 gene has been observed in autism spectrum disorders and in cardiovascular disorders.
