Biochem Physiol Actions: SLC16A10 (solute carrier family 16, member 10) is a Na+ independent aromatic amino acid transporter encoding a protein consists of 12 putative membrane-spanning domains. It is expressed in the human intestine and kidney. It absorbs and delivers aromatic amino acids from intestine and kidney. Alteration in the SLC16A10 activity causes malfunctioning of aromatic amino-acid transport disease, resulting in blue diaper syndrome.
