General description: The gene SFRP1 (secreted frizzled related protein 1) is mapped to human chromosome 8p22-p12, a region frequently deleted in breast cancer. It is highly expressed in normal breast tissue.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Secreted Frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1) is a secreted inhibitor of Wnt signaling pathway. DNA damage or oxidative stress causes cellular senescence, which leads to the overexpression of sfrp1. This protein induces senescence phenotypes via the inactivation of Wnt signaling and activation of the retinoblastoma (Rb) pathway. Mutations or aberrant methylation in this gene impair the induction of senescence in several cancers, including breast cancer, bladder cancer, and colorectal tumorigenesis.
Immunogen: Peptide with sequence KNHECPTFQSVFK, from the C-terminal region of the protein sequence according to NP_003003.3
Physical form: Supplied at 0.5 mg/mL in 20mM Tris (pH 7.3) and 150mM NaCl with 0.02% sodium azide and 0.5% bovine serum albumin.
