Biochem Physiol Actions: Semaphorin-4D (SEMA4D) is a protein is encoded by the SEMA4D gene in humans and belongs to semaphorin family. It functions in promoting tumor proliferation, migration and metastasis when overexpressed. It plays an important role in Akt protein phosphorylation and its inhibition may be helpful in treating NSCLC (Non-small-cell lung carcinoma) and cervical cancer. It may also play some role in promoting epithelial ovarian cancers (EOCs).
