S100A10 (S100 calcium binding protein A10) gene encodes a protein belonging to the S100 protein family of small, dimeric EF hand-type Ca2+) binding proteins. It consists of two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. It is localized in a tight heterotetrameric complex with the peripheral membrane-binding protein annexin A2.

Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: S100A10 (S100 calcium binding protein A10) is involved in the regulation of cellular target proteins in response to intracellular Ca2+ signals. S100A10 is permanently in an active state due to the replacement of amino acids in its Ca2+-binding loops. This makes the protein insensitive to Ca2+ signals. It functions as a bridge linking certain transmembrane proteins to annexin A2, thereby regulating intracellular trafficking and functional expression of these proteins at the cell surface.
