Synonyms: Anti-X-linked retinitis pigmentosa GTPase regulator antibody produced in rabbit
Storage: -20C
Application: Anti-RPGR antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.
Biochem Physiol Actions: RPGR (retinitis pigmentosa GTPase regulator) gene encodes a protein with sequence homology to the guanine nucleotide exchange factor for Ran GTPase. It contains six RCC1-like domains at the N-terminus. It functions in the long-term maintenance of photoreceptor viability. It is found in the Golgi and is involved in an interaction with RPGRIP1 (RPGR-interacting protein 1) for mediating vesicular transport-associated processes. These two proteins co-localize in the outer segment of rod photoreceptors. Defects in this gene have been associated with -linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP).
