Regulatory factor for X box 3 (RFX-3) belongs to the RFX family. It is usually expressed in tissues that has ciliated cells, such as brain, lungs and testes. RFX3 is expressed at high levels in the small airway epithelium. This gene is located on human chromosome 9p24.2.
Synonyms: Anti-Regulatory factor X, 3 (influences HLA class II expression)
Storage: -20C
Application: Anti-RFX3 antibody has been used in immunohistochemistry.
Biochem Physiol Actions: Regulatory factor for X box 3 (RFX-3) serves as a transcriptional co-activator to FOXJ1 (forkhead box J1), which helps to increase the expression of cilia-associated genes. In the adult human airway epithelium, RFX-3 preserves the homeostasis of the multiciliated cell population. RFX3 modulates the expression of axonemal dyneins, that participate in ciliary motility.
