PRKD1 gene encodes PKD1 (protein kinase D1), that belongs to the protein kinase D family. It is a serine/threonine kinase, which is also expressed in cells of the normal mammary gland. The PRKD1 gene promoter has a CpG island covering 1.2 kb. It includes, the transcription start site and the exon 1.

Application: Anti-PRKD1 has been used in immunohistochemistry.
Biochem Physiol Actions: PRKD1 (Protein kinase D 1) is a negative modulator of cell migration. It plays an important role in cell adhesion, cell migration, vesicle transport, cell survival , signal transduction, membrane trafficking and immune function . In mammary glands, it preserves the epithelial phenotype by inhibiting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition.
