Biochem Physiol Actions: Protein kinase C, d (PRKCD) belongs to the protein kinase C (PKC) family that plays a crucial role in the regulation of mitogenesis. It is involved in the cell survival regulation, proliferation, and apoptosis. Mutation in PRKCD gene causes primary B-cell disorders with severe autoimmunity. PRKCD is involved with various signaling cascades. In B lymphocytes, it is involved in BCR (B-cell receptor)-mediated signaling downstream of Bruton's tyrosine kinase and phospholipase C?2. It is also involved in the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) signaling pathway and in regulation of insulin receptor (IR) activity and routing.
