Biochem Physiol Actions: PDE9A (Phosphodiesterase 9A) is a novel human cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase belonging to the family of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases. It is a highly cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase, expressed in the cytosol and proximal neurite cells of human neurons. It controls the signaling responses for neuronal cGMP, downstream of multiple neurotransmitter systems. It has been reported that inhibited PDE9A may contribute in the treatment of psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases.
