NUMA1 (Nuclear mitotic apparatus protein 1) is a coiled-coil protein consisting of a globular head and tail domains, which is linked by a large coiled-coil region. Its tail domain is composed of microtubule, LGN binding sites, and a nuclear localization signal (NLS).
Synonyms: Anti-NuMA protein; Anti-Nuclear mitotic apparatus protein 1; Anti-SP-H antigen
Storage: -20C
Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: NUMA1 (Nuclear mitotic apparatus protein 1) is involved in several chromosomal maintenance activities as an essential mitotic component including spindle positioning, proper organization and maintenance of the mitotic spindle structure. During proper positioning and elongation of mitotic spindle, NUMA1, positioned above two spindle poles, directly binds to the conserved proteins (LGN/Gai1-3) and dynein to the cell cortex. NUMA1-LGN/Gai1-3 binding finally enhances cortical levels of NuMA/dynein, which is highly essential for robust spindle elongation.
