Biochem Physiol Actions: Neutrophil cytosol factor 2 is a protein encoded by the NCF2 gene in humans. It is referred to as NCF-2, NOXA2, P67PHOX and P67-PHOX. It encodes a core component of the multi-protein NADPH oxidase (NADPHO). It is associated with Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), which is a complex immune disease. Polymorphisms of this gene is associated with arthritis and autoantibody production. It is found to play a critical role for ROS production on the level of individual phagosomes.
