MRE11A (MRE11 homolog A), a nuclear protein, shows similarity with its yeast counterpart at the amino-terminal half. It is highly expressed in proliferating tissues along with other tissues. It is composed of the nuclease and capping domains. It forms dimer structure through the interfaces in two ways: ß3-a3 loop from one MRE11 and loop ß4-ß5 from another MRE11 as well as loop a2-ß3 from one MRE11A and helices a2-a3 from another MRE11.

Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: MRE11A (MRE11 homolog A) is a DNA repair protein which acts on double strand DNA damage by cleaving broken ends. In addition, it also participates in DNA replication and telomere maintenance. MRE11A exhibits 3' to 5' exonuclease activity. MRE11A mutation leads to the ataxia telangiectasia-like disorder (ATLD).
