MGST2 (microsomal glutathione S-transferase 2) gene encodes a 17kDa trimeric integral membrane protein localized to the microsomes. It is a member of the glutathione S-transferase (GST) family. The gene is localized to human chromosome 4q28.3.

Biochem Physiol Actions: Microsomal glutathione S-transferase 2 catalyzes the conjugation of leukotriene A4 and reduced glutathione to produce leukotriene C4, an important mediator of inflammation. It also exhibits GSH-dependent peroxidase activity toward several lipid hydroperoxides.
